TIDEPOOL OCEAN ACADEMY 「せかい」水曜日

Hello everyone!

Today we had fun painting with a natural color found in the farm!!!  Can you guess what we used???

FIrst we picked tsuru murasaki seeds which are covered in a deep purple flesh.  We even ate leaves from the plant which are still yummy this time of year.  After picking the seeds, we brought them back to tidepool.



After putting the seeds into a bowl, we smushed them with our fingers to pull out the color.
Then we used our fingers to finger paint on paper.  Everyone made a design that they wanted to paint. 


And some of us tried the purple paint!!  It is not that bad!  :)

Last, with our final minutes, we played a game of UNO using English only to play and call the cards.  It was a fun day!!

The Mizuna is Growing!

Hello everyone!!

It's very cold these days! 
Today we worked on a long term project to make bath salt with orange peels.  We peeled oranges and broke the peel into small pieces so that they can dry easily.  Next time we will mix them with salts to make a bath salt.

Afterwards we played the game of life using the English version of the game.  This was a nice lesson for learning larger English numbers. 

Finally we played an alphabet game.

Today we planned to go make a camp at the beach.  However, the rainy weather sent us insied to learn the skills of an outdoors person.  We began by talking some about camping and what are the different parts of the tent.  Next the kids worked together to set up two different kinds of tents.    .  





















When the tent was up, everyone climbed inside to see what it was like inside.







After our camping experience, we used the remaining time to learn to tie a couple of knots with ropes. 









It was a fun experience to prepare them for their own camping experiences and learn some new Eglish vocabulary related to camping

Hello Everyone!!

Today we had a fun fall activity planned for everyone. 

First we studied the alphabet, numbers, and word opposites. 
 
Then we worked on our project for today, oranges with cloves.  We used mikan oranges and dried cloves to make a potpourri for making our homes smell nice.  This was done by sticking the cloves all over the sides of the oranges.  Once these dry, they will make a lovely aroma for your home!
Finally, we played a few games like "Go Fish" and "Pictionary" to practice some English words that we use frequently.  We also got to eat the oranges!!!  YUM!

こんにちは。マイケル先生と一緒に畑をやっていますももこです。
今日はマイケル先生の代理でレッスンをさせていただきます。

今朝マイケル先生の畑から抜いてきた間引き大根を使って二品を作りました♪


まずは一品目のゆず大根。調味液を計ります。

二人とも、かなり真剣に正確に　One, Two, Three....とカウントして
合わせ調味液が一煮立ちするまでの間に、大根を切ります。


切った大根とゆずの皮を袋に入れて

一煮立ちさせてから冷ました調味液にゆずの果汁を絞ります。

入ってしまった種を最後まで根気よく取り除いて
 
袋に注ぎます

よーく揉んだら完成♪



続いて二品目は大根菜の胡麻和え


ごまを擦って調味料を合わせます。

さっと湯通しした大根菜を刻みます。


手つきが慣れてきた二人。

調味料と合わせて完成！
 
ちょっと味見。。。「おいしい♪」
とっても日本的なメニューを英語でクッキングした
本日のレッスン終了です。
